NASCAR at Watkins Glen picks, odds: Kyle Busch going for weekend sweep

Who takes the checkered flag Because the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Watkins Glen?

Here are our selections for the final road race of the season.

Winner: Kyle Busch
After shooting his first checkered flag of the season last week at Pocono rowdy is out for blood. After winning his first Xfinity Series race at The Glen on Saturday, Busch begins in the pole on Sunday because he chases his third career win in the track. From our point of view, so long as Busch does not wreck or see his motor neglect, he should at least finish in the top five.

Contenders: Joey Logano, Martin Truex Jr..
We’re not really prepared to give up on the 2016 championship event, especially after his second-place finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race. Logano marched his whole Cup crew on Saturday and they did not disappoint. His team knows it is win or go home, so anticipate the 2015 Watkins Glen winner to take his shot Victory Lane on Sunday. As for Truex Jr., nicely his r??sum?? speaks for itself. The points leader owns eight top-fives, 14 stage wins, three race wins plus a 29 playoff points that are ridiculous. Truex Jr. directed the most complete laps in Sonoma in June before suffering engine failure with only 25 to proceed. Best think he hasn’t forgotten about that…

Wild Card: AJ Allmendinger
We’re not so high on the road course expert back at Sonoma, and for good reason. Allmendinger completed 35th despite winning a stage in June. This time around we think that it’s going to be different. Despite a fair run in practice, the results at Watkins Glen of Allmendinger talk for themselves. In addition to a triumph in 2014, he’s got a normal finish inside the top 10 there. Do not be shocked if Allmendinger performs spoiler into a motorist on the playoff bubble Sunday.
